Simple 3 Step Formula to a Healthy and Successful Club

The 3 Step Formula to creating a healthy and successful club is:

  1. Determine the condition of your Club’s health by conducting what Toastmasters calls the Moments of Truth program.
    1. In this program someone (from your club or from the other clubs) will facilitate a Moments of Truth, which is basically a process of surveying your members to determine the strong and weak areas of your club.  This should only take 1 full club meeting to conduct
    2. After assessing each area of review, the facilitator will ask members to volunteer to make the necessary changes to strengthen the weak spots
    3. Your Club President should follow up with volunteers to support them in making the changes they volunteered to make
    4. Moments of Truth Manual
    5. Moments of Truth Handout
  2. Set your club up to be successful by following the Distinguished Club Program (DCP)
    1. First, go to this link to get your club’s Distinguished Club Program report so you know how many goals you may already have towards your DCP.  On the left hand side you will see a box that says “Club Search” enter your club number and CLICK on the Search Symbol
    2. have your Executive Committee (EC) commit to following the DCP.   To make this happen, have each Officer download and read this FILE so they fully understand the DCP
    3. Then, on this same link ( DCP Club Success Plan ), print out and bring pages 15 through 32 to your Executive Committee Meeting and use this document to set your DCP goals at this meeting
    4. Make sure each of the Club Officers commit to being responsible for the goals they set for their area of responsibility
  3. Ensure long term Club success by creating a Club Mentorship Program :
    1. Find a volunteer to “Chair” your Club’s Mentorship Program.  This person will :
      1. inform your club how the Club Mentorship Program works
      2. match mentors and proteges
      3. and conduct mentor/protege commitment pledge in front of your club
      4. Recognize mentors/proteges as they fulfill their duties
      5. Click here to find files for Club Mentoring
    2. Have your Mentorship Chair read and understand the mentorship program
    3. Your President should follow up with the Mentorship Chair on a weekly basis until all new members have been matched
    4. Mentorship Chair should be included in the EC meetings and report to the EC when they meet each month

TO ENSURE YOUR CLUB’S SUCCESS, MAKE SURE YOUR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (YOUR CLUB OFFICERS) ARE MEETING ON A MONTHLY BASIS TO DISCUSS THE DCP PLAN, SHARE SUCCESSES AND MAKE ADJUSTMENTS AS NEEDED.
