District Success Plan
In Toastmasters, we LEAD
Learn, Engage, Advance, and Develop.
Leadership is a thriving journey and we lift people up as we climb. The District 5 Leadership team has a platform that enables you, members in District 5, to learn faster, to engage more, and to apply the skills needed to advance in your personal and professional life.
Every club needs to be a quality club. The best resource for this is the Distinguished Club Program (DCP). Clubs that achieve the goals of the DCP and continue to grow their membership are thriving clubs that offer their members a quality experience in the Toastmaster Educational Program.

District 5 helps clubs succeed
The path toward member success
The District Mission set forth by Toastmasters International is “We build new clubs and support all clubs in achieving excellence.” The District 5 Leadership Team honors and embraces this mission as it helps us realize our vision for clubs in Yuma, AZ and within the greater San Diego and Imperial counties.
Our clubs are our day-to-day operational environment and champions for the Toastmasters program. Therefore, club excellence is essential.
Tools and resources we use to help clubs achieve excellence
- The District Incentives
- Distinguished Club Program
- Club Officer Training
- Toastmasters Leadership Institute
- Leadership Breakfast
- District Conference
We’re working to help our families, friends, and colleagues find their voice and become better communicators and leaders.
District Success Plan
Our goal: District 5 to be President’s Distinguished.
We have 3 simultaneous requirements that must be met:
- Club Count
- Membership Payments
- Distinguished Clubs
We use several metrics to evaluate achievement:
- Educational awards are the metrics for member achievement.
- Distinguished Club Program provides the evaluation metrics for clubs to accomplish the club mission.
- Distinguished District Program provides the metrics for districts to accomplish the district mission.
- District 5 Leadership Team Goal is to be President Distinguished
For most of the clubs in District 5, the top priority is membership building. The District supports clubs through:
- Training: Shared resources and tools to help build club membership
- Strategic analysis: Building awareness about the importance of planning membership building events in Jan/Feb – guests are more likely to commit, and more likely to renew
- Incentives: District incentives designed to encourage membership building
- Management: Understanding why renewals are turned in late in the first round, making a plan to avoid the same issue in the 2nd round.
The District encourages each Area Director to commit to build one new club by providing a new club lead, a sponsor, and a mentor.
